2025 Mini-Cooper with a Honda K25 Swapped Engine Races in 24 Hours of Lemons.
Built using unreleased innovations from Permatex, the K24 powered Mini completed 3 races across California.
2021 - Building a test vehicle
Permatex® purchased a stock Mini Cooper to serve as our test platform for new Permatex® innovations. Partnering with Dylan Hughes Racing, the idea was born to push our products to the limit by entering the car into the 24 Hours of Lemons endurance race.
2022 – First Race & New Innovation
Our Mini made its racing debut at the 24 Hours of Lemons, sealed and protected with our unreleased RTV Silicone formulation: Permatex® Optimum Easy-Disassembly. The vehicle proved strong, but its low-powered stock engine showed limitations.
2023 – The Engine Swap & Hard Lessons
To increase performance, the Dylan Hughes Racing team installed a Honda K24 engine, boosting horsepower and potential. However, during the race, a foreign reverse-shift transmission setup led to a “money shift” and transmission failure within 30 minutes.
2024 – The Evolution of the Mini
Back to the drawing board, the Mini was rebuilt into a 224-hp, manual K24-swapped Lemons car—engineered, sealed, and powered with Permatex® products. Today, it stands as a true testament to innovation, endurance, and performance under pressure.
