Quick Details
Permatex & Flying Sparks Garage have partnered to restore a 1953 Peterbilt on YouTube after being abandoned in a field for 40 years. This 1953 model features a distinctive narrow nose and Cummins 220 engine, serving as a precursor to the famous 281/351 “Needlenose” trucks introduced in 1954.
Iron Nose vs Needle Nose
Grampa Grime is a 1953 Peterbilt Iron Nose. Commonly confused with the more common Needle Nose which was first produced in 1954, the Iron Nose is a rare Peterbilt to find.
Engine
The 1953 Iron Nose is a full restoration with engine in tack. The 220 Cummins is being rebuilt to todays standard.
40 Years of restoration
Grampa Grime was found in a field in Idaho. The truck hasn't been registered or driven in over 40 years. Giving Emily & Aaron a lot of work to bring it back to life, including a restored engine, rust restoration on the frame, and new brake system before tackling the cosmetics.
